he Sipeed Longan Nano is a compact and versatile development board featuring the GD32VF103CBT6 microcontroller, powered by a 32-bit RISC-V Bumblebee core developed by GigaDevice and Nuclei System Technology. It supports the RV32IMAC instruction set and includes the ECLIC fast interrupt system, delivering efficient processing with power consumption only one-third that of traditional Cortex-M3 cores. This makes it an ideal choice for students, engineers, and hobbyists eager to explore the RISC-V architecture in embedded systems. The board sports a bright 0.96-inch IPS RGB LCD with a resolution of 160×80, housed in a transparent acrylic case for protection and aesthetics. Its double-row 700 mil pitch pin layout allows easy insertion into breadboards for rapid prototyping. For precise timing, the Longan Nano integrates an 8 MHz passive crystal oscillator and a 32.768 kHz RTC low-speed crystal oscillator. It also includes a Mini TF card slot for expanded storage and a USB Type-C port for power and programming. The board supports multiple firmware download methods, including USB DFU mode, UART ISP, and JTAG. The USB DFU mode simplifies programming with just a USB Type-C cable, while the standard JTAG interface allows debugging with popular tools like J-Link. This combination of features makes the Longan Nano an accessible and powerful platform for RISC-V learning and development.
