The ELECROW Crowtail Capacitive Moisture Sensor V2.0 (Model CMS00810C) is a soil moisture detection module designed for durability and precision. Unlike resistive moisture sensors that corrode and degrade over time, this module uses capacitive sensing, which is more resistant to corrosion and offers longer service life. It’s ideal for projects like automated plant watering, garden monitoring, indoor plants, or soil condition logging, where you want reliable moisture measurement over time without frequent replacement. The sensor is easy to use: it connects via the Crowtail 4‑pin interface, making integration with Crowtail base shields and Arduino boards straightforward. It outputs an analog signal proportional to soil moisture. Users typically calibrate it by taking readings in air (dry) and in saturated soil (or water) to establish the mapping between analog values and moisture levels. It works across a wide voltage range (3.3‑5V), making it compatible with many microcontrollers. Its physical build is slim, with dimensions suited for insertion in soil without too much disturbance.
