About this item
The ELECROW CAN‑Bus Shield V1.5 is an Arduino add‑on board that provides CAN networking capability for projects that require reliable communications over long distances or harsh environments. It is ideal for automotive diagnostics, industrial machine control, data logging, or anywhere multiple devices must talk to each other over the Controller Area Network bus. At its heart, the shield uses the MCP2515 controller and MCP2551 transceiver to implement the CAN V2.0B standard, enabling support for both standard (11‑bit) and extended (29‑bit) message frames. It can transmit and receive at speeds up to 1 Mbps, with message buffering and prioritization via dual receive buffers. Data is exchanged between the CAN controller and the Arduino host through the SPI bus, with SPI clock up to 10 MHz. The board includes a DB9 (9‑pin Sub‑D) connector for CAN bus wiring—compatible with OBD‑II style connectors if used in automotive settings—and also has an SD card holder that allows diagnostic data, logs, or message traffic to be saved directly onto a micro SD card. Two onboard LEDs indicate status (data in, error or activity). The shield is compatible with Arduino Mega and Leonardo form factors. Its build makes it suitable for integration in diagnostic tools or monitoring devices where you want to capture CAN message traffic, log events, or control nodes in a CAN network.Specifications
