The Microchip MCP960X series is a family of precision thermocouple EMF (electromotive force) to temperature converters designed to provide accurate temperature readings with integrated cold-junction compensation. These devices simplify thermocouple interfacing by converting raw thermocouple voltages directly into degrees Celsius, eliminating the need for complex external circuitry or calculations.Based on the trusted National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) ITS-90 Thermocouple Database, the MCP960X family applies precise temperature correction coefficients to compensate for thermocouple nonlinearities. This ensures highly accurate temperature measurements across a variety of thermocouple types, including K, J, T, N, S, E, B, and R. The device outputs temperature data with typical accuracy of ±0.5°C and maximum accuracy within ±1.5°C, making it suitable for industrial, scientific, and consumer applications where precise temperature monitoring is crucial.The MCP960X communicates over a standard I2C interface, enabling easy integration with microcontrollers and embedded systems.
