The PIMORONI MAX30101 Breakout is a compact and powerful biosensing module that combines a heart rate sensor, oximeter, and smoke detection capability in a single device. Based on the MAX30101 sensor, it integrates three LEDs—green, red, and infrared—along with precise photodetectors to measure the amount of light reflected from the skin. This allows it to monitor physiological parameters using photoplethysmography (PPG), a non-invasive method that detects changes in skin color caused by blood flow, enabling accurate tracking of heart rate and blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂).Ideal for wearable tech, health monitoring, and fitness projects, this breakout board is compatible with microcontrollers and single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi or Arduino. By pressing the sensor against a fingertip, it captures real-time biometric data. With its I2C interface, it’s easy to integrate and requires minimal wiring.
