The SparkFun RedBoard Plus (DEV-18158) is an enhanced version of the classic Arduino-compatible RedBoard, offering improved features, better USB connectivity, and greater ease of use. Designed for both beginners and advanced developers, the RedBoard Plus maintains the familiar ATmega328P microcontroller while incorporating quality-of-life upgrades that streamline prototyping and development. At its core, the RedBoard Plus features the ATmega328P running at 16 MHz with 32 KB of flash memory and 2 KB SRAM. Unlike older boards that use the FTDI chip, the RedBoard Plus uses the CH340C USB-to-Serial converter and comes with a micro-USB connector, improving reliability and compatibility across operating systems. The board includes a Qwiic connector for seamless I²C integration with SparkFun’s sensor ecosystem, eliminating the need for soldering or breadboarding I²C components. Other enhancements include better power management, a resettable PTC fuse for protection, a more robust voltage regulator, and convenient pin labels for easier hardware interfacing.
