About this item

The DRV8825 module with an aluminum heat sink is a high-performance breakout board based on Texas Instruments' DRV8825 microstepping bipolar stepper motor driver, designed to elevate motor control capabilities in robotics, 3D printing, and CNC systems. It supports up to six microstep resolutions—from full-step down to precise 1/32-step—enabling exceptionally smooth and accurate motion. Adjustable current limiting lets you dial in optimal motor current via a built-in potentiometer, allowing the use of higher voltage for improved step rates. Intelligent PWM chopping automatically toggles between fast and slow decay modes to maintain clean current regulation. Operating across a wide 8.2–45 V input range, the board can deliver up to 1.5 A per phase under moderate load, or up to 2.2 A when complemented with effective cooling—courtesy of both its aluminum heat sink and 4-layer, 2-ounce copper PCB for enhanced heat dissipation. Additional safety features include thermal shutdown, over-current protection, under-voltage lockout, and short-circuit safeguards, ensuring reliability under stress. It comes in a compact 15 × 20 mm footprint (weighing ~4 g), compatible with A4988-style sockets for drop-in replacement, and supports both 3.3 V and 5 V logic. Ideal for firmware and electronics projects needing precise, efficient stepper control in a thermally optimized package.
