About this item
The PC817 DIP‑4 optocoupler is a compact, reliable device featuring a single-channel infrared LED optically coupled to a phototransistor, all enclosed in a through-hole 4‑pin DIP package; this pack includes five identical units. It's engineered to provide electrical isolation between high-voltage or noisy circuits and sensitive digital electronics, with an isolation rating up to 5000 Vrms, safeguarding microcontrollers and other logic components from harmful transients. The LED input operates at a forward voltage of around 1.2 V, tolerates up to 50 mA, and withstands reverse voltages of up to 6 V. The phototransistor output can handle a collector-emitter voltage up to 80 V, with a maximum collector current of 50 mA and a low saturation voltage of 0.2 V, delivering efficient signal transfer. The device can dissipate up to 200 mW of power and excels across a wide temperature range from –30 °C to +100 °C, making it suitable for both industrial and communication applications. With its fast response times (rise ~4 µs, fall ~3 µs) and standard DIP format, the PC817 is perfect for isolated switching, feedback in switching power supplies, and robust data coupling. A 15-day warranty against manufacturing defects adds confidence for both engineers and hobbyists.Specifications
