The DHT11 Temperature and Humidity Sensor Module is a compact, user-friendly solution for environmental monitoring in DIY electronics, home automation, weather stations, and HVAC systems. Featuring a built-in LED indicator, it provides instant visual confirmation of operation and readings. The module combines a capacitive humidity sensor and thermistor temperature sensor, integrated with an 8-bit microcontroller to deliver digital output via a single-wire interface, simplifying wiring and code. It operates on a broad supply voltage range of 3.3 V to 5.5 V, making it compatible with most development boards. The DHT11 measures temperatures from 0 °C to 50 °C with ±2 °C accuracy, and humidity from 20% to 95% RH with ±5% accuracy, with readings updated at a rate of roughly one per second. Low power consumption—about 0.3 mA during measurement and 60 µA in standby—makes it suitable for battery-powered applications. The module includes a pre-built pull-up resistor on the data line and sports three pins (VCC, GND, DATA) with standard 0.1″ spacing for easy connection. Slightly less accurate than higher-end counterparts like the DHT22, the DHT11 offers a cost-effective, reliable option for many general-purpose environmental sensing needs.
