About this item

The OE-28 Hall Effect Two-Channel Magnetic Encoder is a compact and reliable sensor module developed for use with Orange planetary DC gear motors, especially those with a long shaft protrusion at the rear. It offers precise quadrature feedback, ideal for robotics, automation, and motion control applications. Operating from a supply voltage of 4.5V to 24V and drawing no more than 10mA, the Hall sensor outputs two digital square-wave signals labeled A and B. These outputs are approximately 90° out of phase, enabling accurate detection of rotational direction and speed. By counting both rising and falling edges of each channel, the encoder achieves a resolution of 7 counts per full revolution of the motor shaft. When paired with a gearbox, multiply the counts by the gear ratio (e.g., 48) for output shaft resolution. The module includes a plastic enclosure, mounting washer, magnet, connector cable, and screws for easy installation on compatible motors. Six pins provide access to motor leads and Hall sensor signals: Motor-, Motor+, Vcc, GND, A_Vout, B_Vout. Built to function reliably in environments from –40°C to +85°C and relative humidity between 20%–85%, it measures approximately 25.2mm in diameter, weighs just 18g, and comes with a standard 15-day warranty against manufacturing defects. This encoder is an excellent choice when you want incremental position feedback on gear motors without bulky optical sensors. Its low power consumption, mechanical simplicity, and robust performance make it a practical addition to motorized systems.
