The Elecrow Crowtail Motor Base Shield 2.0 is a robust motor driver shield built for Arduino/Crowduino projects, combining both motor control power and Crowtail ecosystem compatibility. It integrates the dual H‑bridge driver IC L298P, allowing it to handle two motors (or a stepper motor) simultaneously. This makes it ideal for robotics, moving platforms, or any application where controlling speed and direction of motors is needed. Its “base shield” design means it mounts directly onto an Arduino (or compatible board) and exposes Crowtail expansion connectors. This helps in stacking additional Crowtail modules without needing messy wiring. The shield features a physical power switch so you can safely turn the motor driver on or off during experimentation, which is useful during building and debugging. The PCB is designed to support up to 2 A drive current per motor, with motor supply voltage in the 6‑15V range. Logic control signals are expected to be ~5V. To help users keep track of what’s happening, there are 8 indicator LEDs that show power, reset, motor speed, direction etc., aiding diagnostics. The L298P driver dissipates heat, so the board layout is optimized for keeping the power dissipation under control (up to ~25W at moderate operating temperatures).
