The DFRobot MAX98357 I2S Amplifier Module is a compact, digital audio amplifier designed to easily integrate high-quality sound output into embedded systems. It utilizes the MAX98357A chip, a powerful class-D amplifier that directly receives digital audio signals via I2S (Inter-IC Sound), eliminating the need for a digital-to-analog converter (DAC). This allows clean, low-noise audio output with minimal external components. Capable of delivering up to 3.2W of power into a 4Ω speaker, the module provides sufficient volume for smart speakers, robots, alarms, and other audio-enabled projects. It is especially useful in systems where space and efficiency are important, such as IoT devices or portable electronics. The module operates from a 3.3V to 5V power supply, and supports standard I2S inputs, including Left/Right/Mono channel configuration via simple pin selection. The Gravity interface makes it beginner-friendly and ideal for prototyping with microcontrollers like ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or Arduino. Thanks to its short-circuit and thermal protection, it is safe for long-term use.
