elecrow crowtail – collision sensor 2.0
Brand: Elecrow
About this item
The Elecrow Crowtail Collision Sensor 2.0 is a simple mechanical switch‑based sensor designed to detect collisions, crashes or shocks in mobile platforms like robot cars. Unlike vibration sensors which often respond to small, continuous movement, this collision sensor triggers only on more forceful, directional impact. It works omni‑directionally, meaning it doesn’t matter from which angle the impact comes. Normally, the sensor’s output is HIGH; when a collision happens, the built‑in switch is pressed, pulling the output LOW for a brief moment. To reduce false triggering from normal vibrations or minor disturbances, the sensor includes circuitry that filters out noise. It’s compatible with both 3.3V and 5V systems, making it usable with most microcontrollers including Arduino, Crowduino, ESP boards etc. Physically, it uses the Crowtail interface for plug‑and‑play integration with Crowtail shields or bases. Given its sensitivity and simplicity, it’s well suited for wake‑up triggers, crash detection in small robots, or safety interlocks in mobile devices.
