The RV3028 Real-Time Clock (RTC) by Pimoroni is an ultra-precise timekeeping module designed to keep track of time with exceptional accuracy, even when your Raspberry Pi or microcontroller is powered off. Factory-calibrated for minimal drift, the RV3028 boasts an impressive accuracy of ±1 second per million seconds (roughly 11.5 days) at 25°C, making it up to five times more accurate than a typical digital watch. In real-world conditions, it still performs remarkably well, with observed drift of less than ±2 seconds per million seconds.This RTC module is ideal for applications that require precise timekeeping without a constant internet connection — such as datalogging, scheduling, alarms, or standalone IoT devices. The RV3028 also features built-in battery backup, allowing it to maintain accurate time even during power loss. Thanks to its low power consumption, it can run for years on a small coin-cell battery.The board communicates over I2C, making it easy to interface with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or other microcontrollers. Pimoroni also provides a user-friendly Python library for fast and easy integration.
