About this item
The SparkFun TOL-20680 LiPo Fuel Gauge is a compact and accurate battery monitoring board designed to measure the charge level of single-cell Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries. Based on the MAX17048 fuel gauge IC from Maxim Integrated, this module uses advanced ModelGauge™ algorithm technology to deliver precise, real-time readings of battery voltage, state of charge (SoC), and charge/discharge rates—without requiring full discharge cycles for calibration. Unlike simple voltage dividers, the TOL-20680 learns battery behavior over time, enabling smarter and more consistent fuel gauging. It communicates with microcontrollers via an I2C interface, making it easy to integrate into battery-powered projects like portable electronics, wearables, robots, and IoT devices. Operating at 3.3V and consuming minimal current, it is ideal for low-power applications. The onboard Qwiic connector allows quick plug-and-play integration with SparkFun’s Qwiic ecosystem, simplifying wiring and reducing setup time. A solderable I2C header is also available for custom interfacing. The SparkFun LiPo Fuel Gauge provides a reliable solution for developers looking to implement battery monitoring without complex firmware or extensive configuration. Its intelligent design ensures accurate battery readings with minimal overhead, helping prevent unexpected shutdowns or battery damage.Specifications
