The DFRobot Gravity: MEMS Gas Sensor – MiCS-4514 is a high-performance environmental sensor capable of detecting multiple gases, including carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ammonia (NH₃), and alcohol vapors. Built on advanced MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology, the sensor offers excellent sensitivity, fast response time, and low power consumption in a compact form factor. Unlike traditional analog gas sensors, the MiCS-4514 breakout board features a built-in signal conditioning circuit and supports I²C digital communication, making it easier to interface with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other microcontrollers. The sensor uses two independent sensing elements—one for oxidizing gases like NO₂, and another for reducing gases like CO and NH₃—enabling reliable multi-gas detection from a single module. With its Gravity interface, plug-and-play compatibility is guaranteed, making it ideal for applications in indoor air quality monitoring, smart home systems, environmental sensing, and safety alerts. The sensor is designed to perform reliably in real-world conditions and is especially suited for continuous monitoring systems.
