The Digilent Pmod CAN is a compact CAN 2.0B controller module with an onboard Microchip MCP25625 chip, combining high-speed controller logic and a transceiver in one package. It supports up to 1 Mb/s CAN bus communication and a SPI clock speed up to 10 MHz, operating from 2.7 V to 5.5 V. Built to comply with the Digilent Pmod Interface Specification 1.1.0 type 2A, the module uses a 12‑pin SPI Pmod connector and includes a secure DB9 port for connection to external CAN networks in industrial and automotive setups. The module features three transmit buffers with prioritization and abort capability, two receive buffers, and six programmable filters plus two masks to refine message acceptance. An interrupt output pin allows host systems to respond to incoming messages efficiently. Measuring just 1.4 × 1.8 in (3.6 × 4.6 cm), it’s ideal for space-constrained embedded designs. Sample code and libraries are available to quickly integrate it with FPGA, microcontroller, or Arduino platforms, offering reliable and flexible CAN bus prototyping.
